Hormuz Island is Located in Hormuz, Hormozgan Province, Iran with area of 42 km2. It is covered by rocks and layers of volcanic materials. The highest point of the island is about 186 metres (610 ft) above sea level. The island is arid, and during the summer months the temperature can rise to over 43 °C (109 °F).
Due to a lack of precipitation, the soil and water are salty.
The soil of Hormuz has a high concentration of iron oxide that gives the landscape a characteristic reddish hue.
The red oxide is called “gelack”, is a substance that can be used for making cosmetics, fabrics and ceramics and food coloring.
The Island has couple of sea and rock. Hormuz island is full of colors, from soils to rocks, all in variety of colors like red and orange, white and yellow.
Marco Polo visited the island in 1290s, as he described in his travel journal.
Life on Hormuz is still traditional; all individuals are situated at the centered in the main and only village of Hormuz. According to the 2016 census, there is around 7,000 inhabitants living on the island who speak a language which is a mixture of Farsi, Hindi, Arabic, and English.
