THE STORY OF BLOODY MARY
(The England Queen)
Mary is the most hated queen in the whole of England. the little while she ruled, she trew the entire england into chaos. it was a 5 years reign for her.Mary murdered treacherous , beheaded heretics and had pregnant women burnt to death. all those who opposed or worshipped any other pagan gods were victims to her wraith. it was a 5 year of terror for the ordinary Britain folk at that time. there were about 300 deaths of common folk in 3 and half years during Mary’s reign. There was constant smell of burning flesh throughout the main cities of England. She struck fear into the citizen’s hearts that the nick named her ‘Bloody Mary’.
Mary Tudor was born in 1516. she was the only surviving CHILD of king Henry VII and his first wife, Catheryn.King henry wanted a male child so the birth of Mary did not really cause joy to King Henry and the entire royal family at large. it was seen as a second rate birth. After numerous trials and miscarriages, Mary’s mother finally reached her menopause and n hopes for Henry getting a heir.
Enland was a catholic country and the Pope would never let Henry denounce his marriage and get himself another wife Henry in order to get another wife, broke off from the Roman Catholic church and declares himself Supreme head of the new church of England.
It was a dishearten situation when King Henry’s second wife also bore him a baby girl, they named Elizabeth. It was not too long till the Arch Bishop at that time declared King Henry’s marriage to his first wife over. Therefore, Mary became an illegitimate child and was treated as such.
But Mary and her mother stood together tall and strong refusing to accept the change, especially the new church that King Henry created. they still practiced the old Roman catholic which her father has earlier abolished. it was a difficult situation for Mary and her mother till her mother died in 1536. THEN SHE WAS LEFT ALONE IN THE STRUGGLE OF SURVIVAL.
The sadness of Henry was short-lived as his fourth wife bore him another child,,, this time, it was a baby boy. this was in 1537. there was a tremendous rejoice throughout the cities of England, now the king has an heir, there were people drinking, fireworks everyone. everyone was truly happy.
In 1547 Henry died living the crown for his legitimate son Edward. Edward was at the age of nine when he took over his work and continued to pioneer the new church his father has introduced. he also had his chamber filled with advisers who were protestants. it was the new church’s’ doctrines that was taught all over, this made Mary really angry and it lead to her disobedience to her brother’s government.
so many years of frustration and stress turned Mary into a bitter woman, and the Roman catholic church became her obsession. Edward occasionally sent word to Mary for her to accept the new protestant faith, but Mary bluntly refused sticking to her religious principles and hold private masses in her home.
in 1553 Edward fell ill and the throne was once again getting closer to Mary. Edward knew what was going to happen to the new protestant churches King Henry created.
Edward’s advisers had something cooking up for them, they immediately made Mary’s cousin Lady Jane Grey as heir to the throne. This reign lasted for just 9 days before Mary who had the support of so many common folks was made Queen.The common folks wanted King Henry’s blood to rule. And that was the slogan Mary used ‘I AM KING HENRY’S DAUGHTER’. at this time Mary did not mention anything about religion, She was now supported by both Catholics and protestant.
In July 1553 Mary was 37 years old when she was made Queen of England.She was determined to restore the catholic church and to purnished those who made her earlier life a living hell.
In the same year, Mary was married to King Philip II OF Spain to cement her catholic alliance.
In months of taking the throne, a large protestant rebellion was crushed by Mary, she has at this moment decided to show her enemies what he has for them.
