RISE OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (Part4)

 



  • At this point Cesar just  discovered that he was sick,it is believed that Cesar had epilepsy.

     He didn’t want it known by the public, he didn’t want people especially the Senate to see him as weak. At this time,  he had made himself Dictator of Rome, this gives him authority to pass any law he sees fit.
    While his construction projects help the people, his most innovative and long lasting reform is the introduction of a new calendar . He bases the new calendar on a solar year, putting the entire republic on a universal timetable, one that is still used today.
    •  In the midst of being sick, Cesar focused on making a more unified Rome, feeding all the starving citizens of Rome.  
    •  So he set out on a Mission to  build infrastructures like, Temples, Library and a new harbor, this project provides jobs for thousands of Romans. 

    While Ceasar’s reforms are popular with the people, he was acting on his own, shutting the entire Senate out.

    It was not up to a year since CESAR return from Eygpt, Cleopatra came after him, With a son she had bear for him.The boy was named “Ceserion” With a child from Cleopatra- A Queen of her own dynasty- Julius Cesar’s firm increases and his stay on the throne of Rome solidifies.


    With an heir to his legacy, Cesar starts to think of a Dynasty. Trying to turn Rome into adopting a Monarch system. He began to make structures in his name, building Ivory towers,like the Bascillica Julia that still stands today. He furthermore made statues of himself alongside with Roman gods.–
    Cesar thinks it was his destiny  to rule Rome, so he looks forward to solidifying his stay.

    • Cesar also make his birthday a public holiday. 

     



    On the 14th of March, 44BC Julius Cesar is stabbed 23 times by a faction of Senators led by Brutus.

    After Cesar’s death nothing could be the same. Brutus and the Senate tries to control the chaos that sprung up as a result of Cesar’s death, but the failed. He was popular amongst the citizens so they were pained about his murder. 

    With the way Cesar ruler, it wasn’t possible for the Senate to still be making decisions.

    Just 20 years after Cesar’s death, Rome became an empire, with over 60 million people living within it’s borders that is 20% of the world’s population.

  • Because of Cesar’s sacrifices and hardwork, Rome rose as an Empire.
